New arrest for woman accused of bringing drugs to jail
A woman accused of trying to sneak drugs to a murder suspect inside the San Miguel County Detention Center has again been jailed for violating the terms of her release.
Skye A. Sedillo, 22, of Las Vegas, was arrested Jan. 8 and booked into the San Miguel County Detention Center after testing positive for the use of illegal drugs, according to a motion to revoke conditions of release filed in District Court on Dec. 18, 2020.
A separate motion to revoke conditions of release was filed in District Court Jan. 11. The motion stated that prosecutors were notified on Dec. 15, 2020, that following a random urinalysis test, Sedillo tested positive for opiates, methamphetamine, suboxone and marijuana, according to court records. Sedeillo admitted to using suboxone, Xanax and oxycodone, according to court records.
Sedillo was initially arrested Aug. 10, 2020, after officers with the Las Vegas Police Department and SMCDC corrections officers found Sedillo outside SMCDC with a package containing meth, heroin and injection needles. Recordings of jail phone calls between Sedillo and Rodger A. Tait-Gomez, an inmate at SMCDC, revealed that Tait-Gomez asked Sedillo to bring the package to a corrections officer at the jail. Police allege Tait-Gomez believed the correction officer would then deliver the drugs to him inside the jail, but instead, the officer called LVPD.
Tait-Gomez is currently in custody at SMCDC and has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Adelina Tafoya near Storrie Lake State Park in July 2020.
Following her August arrest, Sedillo was placed on house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor, but the monitor was removed in September because Sedillo could not afford to pay for the monitoring service. When an investigator with the district attorney’s office went to check on Sedillo in October, she was not at the residence where she’d been ordered to remain.
Sedillo was arrested Nov. 2, 2020, for violating the terms of her release. She was later charged with felony escape, and during a December hearing, Sedillo was released on an unsecured $5,000 bond, and again placed on house arrest with a GPS monitor.
Sedillo was released from SMCDC Dec. 4, but 11 days later failed a random drug test, according to court records. A warrant for Sedillo’s arrest was issued Jan. 7, and she was taken into custody the next day.
In District Court, Sedillo faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of trafficking controlled substances, two counts conspiracy to commit trafficking, bringing contraband into jail and conspiracy to bring contraband into jail. She is charged with one felony count of escape from a community custody release program in Magistrate Court.
A District Court hearing to review Sedillo’s conditions of release is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. A preliminary hearing and an evidentiary hearing are scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in Magistrate Court.
