Woman accused of pointing gun at car
Las Vegas Police arrested a 19-year-old woman after witnesses say she pointed a 9 mm pistol at four people inside a car.
Tenielle J. Martinez of Las Vegas was charged with four felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred late in the evening of March 6 in the 1800 block of Louden Circle, on the city’s west side.
According to documents filed in San Miguel Magistrate Court, Martinez told police she was trying to sleep when a woman she knows began banging on the door of her home demanding to speak with her. When she opened the door, Martinez said, the woman forced her way inside and would not allow her to close the door. Martinez said the woman then grabbed her hair and pulled her out of her home. Three other women were outside, and according to Martinez, the other women called her a “whore” and a “bad mother” as they encouraged the two to fight.
After a brief struggle, Martinez broke free, went inside her home, and returned with the pistol. She told police she pointed the gun at the women and told them to leave.
One of the women got out of the car, grabbed the gun and wrestled it away from Martinez. She removed the magazine and cleared a round from the chamber, ejecting it onto the ground. The woman gave the empty gun back to Martinez, who went back inside the home.
While responding to the disturbance call, LVPD stopped the vehicle the four women were traveling in near the intersection of Montezuma Street and Colonias Ave. Police interviewed each woman individually, and each one told police Martinez had pointed the gun at them and that one of them was able to wrestle the gun away, remove the magazine and clear the weapon.
When police arrived at Martinez’s home, officers located a 9 mm bullet outside on the ground. Inside, Martinez directed officers to the pistol, located under a pillow, on top of a cabinet in a hallway.
Police arrested Martinez and charged her with four counts of aggravated assault, fourth-degree felonies, and one count of misdemeanor battery. She was booked into the San Miguel County Detention center. With no prior criminal history, she was soon released on an unsecured bond.
Martinez is due in San Miguel Magistrate Court 10 a.m. on April 11 to be arraigned.
