Vatos seek another national title

The NMHU Vatos have begun the 2018 fall / spring 15s play with their sights set on returning to nationals.

With three national titles in five years, the Vatos fell short of adding another championship title last season when the team finished eighth in the National Small College Rugby Organization sevens championship tournament.

Teams the Vatos will face this year include Colorado College, Colorado Mines and New Mexico Tech. The Vatos will also participate in Highlands’ Homecoming week when the Vatos take to the pitch to play the NMHU alumni team called the Old Boys, following the Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Here is the Vatos’ remaining schedule, with all home matches played at Leveo Sanchez Stadium on the Highlands campus.

  • Oct. 20 NMHU Alumni Old Boys at Vatos, 5 p.m.
